Compare the Cyclone's Locking Efficiency to Ordinary Screws Test Details 8-18 x 1/2 Hex Washer Head, Zinc Plated Screws were Driven into .025 Thick Tapping Plates, S.A.E. 1010 Steel, using a .100 Pilot Hole. The Clearance Plate was .031 Thick, S.A.E. 1010 Steel, with a .196 Hole.

Cyclone Teks combines a self-drilling point and an undercut head with a serrated helical shoulder to absorb high driving torque, making it the complete fastener for sheet metal ranging in thickness from .015" to .110". The unique combination of metal drilling and torque absorption provides a greatly increased safe operating range between drive and strip torques.

GER-NIB® FEATURE: For particularly torque-sensitive applications, Shakeproof's torque-robbing Ger-Nib feature can be incorporated in the Cyclone Teks head.

DRIVE/STRIP TORQUE COMPARISONS
TEKS/2 POINT FASTENERS
AND CYCLONE TEKS/2 POINT FASTENERS

Tests involved 8-18 x 1/2 and 10-16 x 1/2 Hex Washer Head fasteners, with a .0002 zinc, clear chromate and wax finish, driven into a .020" and .030 SAE 1010 steel bearing plates and tapping plates (RB 45 hardness). Where used in bearing plates, clearance holes for number 8 Teks fasteners were .196" diameter, and for the number 10, were .220" diameter.

SIZES

Cyclone Teks fasteners are available in 6, 8, 10 and 1/4" diameter. Lengths, in relation to diameter, may be specified to meet application needs.
