Metal Applications

Because materials and conditions differ, it may be necessary to
vary the recommended hole size for a particular application. Con-
tact the Engineering Department for specific recommendations.
Many short-screw applications will require a drill two sizes smaller
than the recommended drill. Generally, two full threads above the
slat should be engaged, particularly when using Type 23.

Plastic Applications

For best results all holes should be counterbored to prevent fracturing
the plastic. Thread-Cutting Screws used in plastics may be made from
a larger selection of materials, such as unhardenable stainless steels,
Monel, brass, aluminum, etc.
